Defensive Shotgun Course  

Course Description

Defensive Shotgun: This course if for shooters who wants to use shotguns as their primary home defense firearm. It is also designed to prepare individuals to take more advanced shotgun courses such as the Tactical Shotgun. Topics include home defense, basic maneuvers, types of ammunition, close quarter combat with shotguns. This is a 3 hour, shooting class. Bring your shotgun and ammuntion (buckshots only). Other types of shells should be brought for informational and testing purposes.

Part I:

  • Safety Procedure
  • Equipment / Ammunition Selection
  • Defensive Mindset / Situational Awareness

    Part II:

    • Ready Positions
    • Weapon Presentation
    • Single Shot
    • Multiple Shots
    • Loading / Reloading

    Part III:

    • Clearing Malfunctions
    • Use of Force
    • Immediate Action Drills
    • Review and Evaluation

    Fee: $120

    • Items to bring:

    • Eye and ear protection (if you don't have one, they will be provided)
    • Your firearm (rental available on first come first serve basis)
    • 50 rounds of 00 Buck shots for your firearm (may be purchased at the range)
    • Bottled water
    • A good mental attitude
    • Old T-shirt (will be destroyed)
