EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2022
The LASD will only accept first-time CCW applications from those who reside within their contract cities or unincorporated communities and encourage applicants residing in a municipality other than those served by the LASD to contact their local police chief and apply for a CCW license.
All first-time CCW applications submitted, received, or postmarked before the indicated date; the LASD will accept and continue to process.

Defensive Handgun (California CCW Full Course):This is a 16-hour intermediate-advanced pistol course. The course curriculum, live-fire exercises, and demonstration of familiarity, meets or exceeds the established requirements in accordance with California Penal Code Section 26150(a).
Essential Pistol (8-Hour Course):This is our intermediate level tactical handgun course. Learn "Essential Gun Fighting Skills". The course curriculum, live-fire exercises, and demonstration of familiarity, meets or exceeds the established requirements in accordance with California Penal Code Section 26150(a).
Other CCW Courses Offered
Concealed Carry (Utah): This course is designed for experienced shooters who wish to qualify and apply for a concealed carry weapon permit issued by the State of Utah. This permit is accepted in 34 states. This class is a 4 hour course. Shortened sessions are given to qualified shooters who have recently completed a qualified Tactical Pistol Course. This is a non-shooting class but requires students to bring their concealment holsters and firearms for a practical test. Application forms for Utah - CCW are signed and stamped by a Utah Bureau of Criminal Identificataion Agent upon successfully completing the course.
